St. Louis Cardinals Cruise Past Cubs

David Freese homered and Lance Lynn threw eight strong innings to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-1 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday afternoon. Lynn improved to 4-0 on the season.

The first place Cardinals avoided a sweep by the last place Cubs at Wrigley Field on Wednesday afternoon. Bryan LaHair belted his fourth homer of the year in the bottom of the fourth to tie things up at one. But David Freese was the star at the plate for St. Louis. Freese went 2-4 with a home run and three runs batted in. Lance Lynn improved to 4-0 with an eight inning, one run performance in the Cardinals 5-1 win. St. Louis now heads home for a weekend series with Milwaukee while Chicago travels to Philadelphia.
