Joey Logano nipped Kyle Busch to win the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. The race was marred by a late accident that sent Eric McClure to a hospital by helicopter.

On lap 77 Patrick took the lead from team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. Patrick would finish 13th. Eric McClure needed to be cut from his car after running into the SAFER barrier. McClure was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The race was red-flagged for 19 minutes. On the second attempt at a green-white-checkered finish, two teammates were vying for the win Joey Logano used a slingshot move to get past Kyle Busch to take the checkered flag by just 34 thousandths of a second. The victory was Logano's second of the season. As the rest of the field was coming across the line, Sam Hornish Jr. ran Danica Patrick into the wall. Patrick took umbrage and wrecked Hornish on the cool-down lap.
